Makayla Gangemi, D.C.

Makayla Gangemi

Dr. Makayla Gangemi was born and raised in North Carolina, surrounded by natural healthcare. Her father, Dr. Stephen Gangemi, is a chiropractor and AK practitioner, and is the founder of the Systems Health Care office and technique. As his daughter, she grew up with Applied Kinesiology treatments being her normal form of healthcare. As a child, she also attended her mom’s midwife appointments and was present for the homebirth of her younger brother). Her parents taught her and her siblings to prioritize quality nutrition, exercise, and how to use natural care as primary healthcare, with medical intervention being the “alternative care” when necessary.

Growing up with these values, she has always been passionate about natural healthcare. She has also always been particularly drawn to women’s health, pregnancy, and pediatric care. From a young age she knew she wanted to become a chiropractor, and she began working towards that degree path as soon as she could.

Dr. Gangemi received her Bachelor of Science and then her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree both from Logan University, located in Missouri. She has received training in applied kinesiology, pediatric techniques, perinatal techniques such as Webster technique and Spinning Babies, craniosacral therapy and SOT, acupressure, nutritional therapy, lab analysis, myofascial (soft-tissue) therapy, and more.

She met and married her husband, Dr. Zach Watts, while in chiropractic school. After graduation they both joined her father at the Systems Health Care office in Chapel Hill, NC.
